Community Partners Project (CPP)
Our Community Partners Project (CPP) Service for Macedonian Aged
aims to provide the following;
• Promote and facilitate access to aged care services to
Macedonian aged people
• Provides information and referral to mainstream aged
care services
• Provides support to Macedonian older people through
groupwork support
• Undertakes community development activities
• Organises information and education workshops
• Facilitates and develops culturally appropriate resources
for Macedonian age
Currently the project is due to develop a death and dying committee that will research and compile a report on the Macedonian traditions and rituals when a person is in the final stages of their life.
This committee will assist aged care facilities to more appropriately meet the cultural needs of the Macedonian community.
In addition the CPP project offers much support and assistance to residential aged care facilities to better their knowledge and awareness of the Macedonian culture. For example in the previous financial year the CPP project developed resources which included a Macedonian relaxation CD, a list of Macedonian common words, a calandar of significant days, a book of folk tales and a Macedonian recipe book.
These resources have been distributed amongst aged care services in order to provide more culturally appropriate care.
